First responders are exposed to daily stress and secondhand trauma that many of us may only deal with a handful of times in our lives. Resources are available for those who risk so much to protect and care for our community.
Emergency response is challenging work that can cause high levels of stress. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) offers tips that first responders can use before, during and after a traumatic event to take care of their wellbeing. Check out the resources here.
Crisis Response Care (CRC) is a program designed for first responders to increase their knowledge of crisis response and support their mental wellbeing. Carrying Heroes connects people with rescue horses to help ease the effects of stress. The program is designed to support veterans, first responders, emergency personnel, and their immediate family members.
